The museum’s thematic design elements of cedar and art glass are introduced here with a large art glass panel evoking the mighty Skeena River, by Vancouver glass artists Markian Olynyk and Brian Baxter. This is flanked by two sculptural works by Vancouver glass artist John Nutter. A large mask by Nisga’a artist Ron Telek offers a hint of the wonders of Northwest Coast art to be experienced in the museum.
