The Museum’s extensive collection forms the basis of this tour, in which knowledgeable docents introduce the visitor to many diverse aspects of First Nations history. From accounts of ancient lifestyles to the hosting of great feasts and the creation of renowned works of art, this tour will add new insights to your understanding of the past.
Winter Feast Tour and Performance
Explore the important role of feasting and performance art in Northwest Coast culture in this unique one and a half hour tour combining a museum visit and a real life feast experience. View ceremonial regalia and extraordinary feast art in the museum’s galleries and discover their significance with knowledgeable museum guides. After a short walk, enter the feast house as a guest, where song, mask dancing and storytelling inform and delight. Frequently described as one of the most authentic First Nations museum experiences, this tour will leave you with special memories and a new understanding of Northwest Coast culture.
Storytelling and Song
Stories shape the world of the Tsimshian and other Northwest Coast peoples. Tsimshian Storytelling and Song, a one hour performance at the museum’s longhouse, draws from this rich heritage. Ancient legends of Raven creating the world, trickster stories with timeless moral lessons, and accounts of supernatural beings are narrated and performed with mask dancing and song. Join the Gwiis’amiilgigohl Dancers for an experience that will both amuse and enlighten.
City Heritage Bus Tour

See ancient and modern sights on a 30-minute bus tour. Take a guided tour of the Museum introducing First Nations performance art, take a short walk to our special Longhouse and experience and participate in drumming and song.
