On January 31, 2025, the Lester Center of the Arts came alive with the Colours of India, a spectacular sharing of dance and song organized and hosted by Binder Basi and Karishma Sharma of the North Coast Indo-Candian Arts Club, amazing organizers and terrific dancers. The Museum’s Gwis’amiilgigoohl dancers opened the evening with two songs and a welcome to the territory - a powerful beginning to an evening of moving and exciting performances by community members representing the cultures of India from Karala in the south, to Punjab in the north.

One Hundred Years!

The current temporary exhibit, open from January to April 2025, places the history of the Museum of Northern BC, in a detailed timeline highlighting events in the history of BC and Canada, First Nations history, and the history of Prince Rupert.  Artifacts from the different historical periods take the visitor back in time to remember eras so very different from today. Between its opening in 2024 and its present, the Museum’s collection of treasures, now numbering in the thousands of, have been exhibited

Celebrating 100 Years

This year, 2024, is the Museum of Northern BCs 100th year. Since 1924 thousands of treasures telling the stories of this community and this region have been added to the collection, cared for, researched, and exhibited as part of the collective memory we have all inherited from the past. Many hundreds of temporary exhibits have been offered in the Museum’s Ruth Harvey Art Gallery celebrating the creative and artistic talents of the contemporary people of the region.
